The Two Men Responsible For UFC Nashville’s Sickest Finishes Are At War On Twitter

One of the UFC’s foremost purveyors of striking savagery, Mike Perry, has not taken too kindly to Al Iaquinta’s recent criticism of the promotion.

The two shared a card last weekend, when the UFC visited Nashville and both entered impressive showings to come away with brutal victories. Perry decimated the vastly experienced Jake Ellenberger with a grim second-round elbow-strike, before Iaquinta returned from a two-year layoff to obliterate another veteran, Diego Sanchez, inside two minutes.

Iaquinta’s problems with the UFC have been well-documented and the fighter has never been shy about discussing them candidly. However, after the Sanchez fight and the promotion’s subsequent decision not to grant him a performance bonus, the New Yorker became even more outspoken. Through Twitter and in an impassioned rant on The MMA Hour, ‘Raging’ Al has taken shots at the UFC and it’s president Dana White for the way in which they treat he and other fighters.

Perry, it seems, is sick of hearing about it.

On Friday, ‘Platinum’ Mike, who did receive a performance bonus for his exploits in ‘Music City’, commented on Iaquinta’s complaints and challenged him to a fight.

Unfortunately, Iaquinta is a career 155-pounder and it’s unlikely that he will make the jump to 170lbs to face Perry, especially for the money that he is earning per fight under the terms of his current contract. In fact, as it stands, Iaquinta’s future with the company in any capacity is in severe doubt.
