Brazilian middleweight Thiago Santos was obviously reluctant to relinquish the knockout of the weekend honours to Bellator’s Hisaki Kato, because on Saturday night he found a home for his shin in the side of Steve Bosse’s head.
The brutal head kick K.O took place on the undercard of UFC Fight Night – Machida vs Romero. This spectacular win brought the, ridiculously sculpted Santos to a modest 3-2 in the UFC. With all of his 3 wins coming via first round stoppage though, he is likely to get plenty of opportunities to showcase his talents. His nickname “Marreta” translates to “sledgehammer” and with every knockout win he continues to validate it.
Bosse was making his UFC debut but unfortunately for him a night he should never forget became one he may not remember thanks to the educated feet of Santos.
Santos pocketed an extra $50,000 dollars in the form of a “Performance of the Night” bonus, an honour which also went to main event victor, Yoel Romero.
