On Monday afternoon, some incredible rumours linking Conor McGregor with a phenomenal comeback in the UFC 213 main event broke online.
Two social posts seemed to send the rumour mill into overdrive as both Conor McGregor and Tyron Woodley suggested that they were set to confirm their next fight.

Writing on his Instagram account, Woodley confirmed that he would be stepping into the octagon for his fourth title fight inside 12 months and that he had already started training camp for his next fight.
Training camp starts today. The next time I set foot in the Octagon, it will be 4 title fights in 12 months.
With no clear contender readily available in the welterweight division, MMA fans seemed certain that the ‘Notorious’ McGregor was the man in line to take a shot at Woodley’s 170lbs crown.
However, the highly regarded Ariel Helwani wasn’t long shooting down the reports stating that there was ‘absolutely no truth’ in the stories linking McGregor with a UFC 213 return.
"That's absolutely not true." – @arielhelwani on McGregor vs. Woodley rumours.

However, fans still seem to think that this one is more than plausible given how nicely the jigsaw pieces fit together and, taking to Twitter, many have expressed their thoughts on the mooted super-fight.

All these people that think Tyron Woodley would destroy McGregor. Also thought Aldo and Alvarez would destroy him ๐

I just texted Woodley about the reports that he was fighting Conor McGregor at #UFC213. His response "LOL"

Just because Tyron Woodley's reply was "LOL" doesn't mean the Conor McGregor fight is not possible for #UFC213. That was just his response.

@jeremybotter would CM really take an MMA fight he’s likely to lose while trying to get a fight with Mayweather done?

@jeremybotter Much respect to conor is this is true, going up to 170 vs a big 170th figher with some serious knockout power nobody else will do it

It seems unlikely that this one will actually go down as early as UFC 213. However, with McGregor only yesterday confirming that his next fight will ‘be announced very soon’, don’t be surprised if the UFC champion drops a major bombshell in the coming days.
