Undefeated SBG Ireland prospect James Gallagher will make his Bellator MMA debut on July 16th at London’s O2 Arena, it was announced on Monday(via MMAJunkie).
Gallagher, who is 3-0 as a professional, signed with Bellator back in April, but the North American promotion decided to allow the 19-year-old to go ahead with an already scheduled bout opposite Sean Tobin at BAMMA 26 in Dublin on June 4th. However, BAMMA subsequently postponed that event until September to allow for the introduction of more stringent safety measures.
This freed Gallagher up to make his first Bellator appearance sooner than expected.
With Bellator 158 taking place just a short hop across the Irish Sea from Gallagher’s homeland, it seemed like a logical step to add him to the card.

While the aforementioned Tobin told Peter Carroll of Severe MMA last month that he would love to “welcome” the Strabane native to Bellator, the promotion’s matchmakers instead recruited another BAMMA veteran, 25-year-old English featherweight Mike Cutting.
Cutting is 6-5 as a professional and has fought 5 times in BAMMA, going 2-3. His most recent appearance was on February 27th at BAMMA 24, when he lost a unanimous decision to another unbeaten Northern Irishman, Declan Dalton.
At the same event, Gallagher submitted Gerard Gilmore via rear-naked choke to log his third victory.
Bellator 158 is headlined by a welterweight bout between England’s own Paul Daley and former Bellator welterweight champion Douglas Lima. The co-main event features another local favourite, super-prospect Michael Page, taking on grizzled Brazilian veteran Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos.
