Rockhold Has Some Strong Words For Dana White Following President’s Criticisms

Looks like the claws are out again for Luke Rockhold and Dana White.

After attempting to rally the UFC middleweight division to arms on Ariel Helwani’s The MMA Hour, Rockhold bore the brunt of White’s disdain.

During the post-UFC 211 press conference, White fired shots in Rockhold’s direction.

“Nobody deserves anything. You’ve got to earn it here. These guys want to sit around… You’ve got Rockhold screaming, ‘I deserve this’ — you just got knocked out in the first round. You don’t deserve anything. You’ve got to come back and earn it.”

Unsurprisingly, Rockhold was none too happy with White’s retort and sounded off on Twitter.

Having lost only one fight in four years, Rockhold should be near the top of the queue of contenders for a title shot. Unfortunately for him, as a result of a knee injury which forced him to pull out of a bout with ‘Jacaré’ Souza at UFC Fight Night 101, he’s nowhere close.

However, the news that White wants current champion Michael Bisping to fight Yoel Romero, due to Georges St-Pierre not being ready to fight until November, may help the AKA fighter’s cause.

In addition to this, Rockhold has expressed an interest in squaring off with Gegard Mousasi in the meantime. The fight could be viewed as a No. 1 contender bout of sorts, if the Bisping/Romero fight does go ahead.

Judging by this, Rockhold seems willing to earn his title shot. Of course, having pissed off the boss, he may be waiting a while.
