The Paulie Malignaggi/Conor McGregor feud in the build up to the Irishman’s fight against Floyd Mayweather this Saturday night has been dominating headlines for weeks.
As is well established by now, Malignaggi was outraged by the releasing of unflattering images via social media of him laying on his back on the canvas of the ring in Team McGregor’s gym as Conor stood over him and sensationally quit the camp he was brought into as a sparring partner.
Paulie has since gone on to blast Team McGregor in the media in a plethora of interviews and he persistently suggests he was pushed down rather than struck by the MMA star, even though footage of a clear legitimate knockdown was released.
Relations turned sour rapidly and continue to spiral downwards.
There were immediate concerns following Malignaggi’s premature departure from the training camp that he would leak tactics and game plan strategies of the UFC lightweight champion to Mayweather ahead of the bout.
Well, Paulie turning up at the Mayweather Boxing Gym last night hasn’t eased those concerns. Especially when he joked alongside Floyd about sharing what McGregor’s strategy for the fight will be. More on that story can be found, here.
The New Yorker has responded to the wild reaction to the clips of him in Mayweather’s gym, where he would not express what the pair spoke about. Though he claims that he was just visiting a friend, the whole situation seems extremely suspicious.
Check out Paulie try to explain what brought him to meet Mayweather ahead of the fight, as well as addressing the allegations that he should now be torn off the Showtime coverage of the fight due to his personal involvement with both fighters in the build up, but particularly as a result of his obvious disdain for McGregor.
