UFC strawweight prospect Paige VanZant isn’t returning to the octagon anytime soon, announcing this week she will appear on Season 22 of hit television show ‘Dancing with the Stars’, as she switches four-ounce gloves for dancing shoes.
The cast was announced on Tuesday’s “Good Morning America”, with many well-known athletic stars making up its cast, including Von Miller of the Denver Broncos and Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown.

VanZant is no stranger to movement and is known to have a background in dancing and cheerleading at a young age. She will be paired with professional ballroom dancer Mark Ballas. The long-running show is scheduled to air March 21 on ABC.
21-year-old VanZant will be the first active and third MMA fighter to grace the show, following in the footsteps of former UFC champions Chuck Liddel and Randy Couture.

VanZant last fought in December, losing by rear-naked choke to Rose Namajunas at UFC Fight Night 80. Prior to her first loss inside the octagon, “12 Gauge” won three straight fights, with wins over Kailin Curran, Felice Herrig and Alex Chambers.
VanZant will train for her next UFC bout during the show, with intentions to fight on July’s UFC 200 card.
