‘Notorious’ Movie Reveals Horrifying Extent Of McGregor Injury Ahead Of Chad Mendes Bout

A new feature-length documentary about the rise of Conor McGregor is set to be released next week with the film already receiving unanimous praise.

The film has received a five-star review from RTÉ with Alan Corr stating that, although the MMA star will forever remain a divisive figure in Ireland, the documentary goes some way to detoxifying the McGregor brand and revealing the man as a ‘born survivor and fighter’.

The film has also received a glowing review from MMA Junkie which described it as a ‘fascinating fly on the wall documentary’ while the Irish Mirror lauded the film for showing an ‘often-forgotten side of the MMA icon’.

In terms of standout moments however, there is one revealing inclusion which goes someway to detailing the sheer determination and will power of the MMA star as the documentary includes ‘wince-enducing’ footage of McGregor struggling with an 80% ACL tear in the build-up to UFC 189 and his clash with Chad Mendes.

McGregor was successfully taken down on multiple occasions in that bout and at points, the Irishman looked destined to record his first loss in the UFC. However, in the dying moments of the second round, McGregor managed to drag himself to his feet and KO Mendes with just seconds remaining in the round.

The film is also said to include some extraordinarily raw footage of the Irishman and his team attempting to come to terms with his crushing loss to Nate Diaz at UFC 196 in the days following the event and is set for nationwide release next week.

“Conor McGregor: Notorious” hits U.K. theaters Nov. 1, with a special one-day release in North America on Nov. 8. The film will be available on DVD and digital download Nov. 20.
