Nate Diaz Tells Hilarious ‘School Cafeteria’ Anecdote To Explain Why He Hasn’t Booked A Fight

On Wednesday night, Ariel Helwani sat down for a highly anticipated interview with the infamous Nate Diaz and the hour and a half long back and forth most certainly did not disappoint.

Having not set foot in the octagon since his epic brawl with Conor McGregor at UFC 202, the MMA world has been left wondering for some time about when Nate Diaz would book his next bout in the UFC.

Speaking last night however, Nate seemed a bit all over the place in terms of when that might be. Outlining his plans, the 32-year-old stated on different occasions that he was taking a year off, that if the UFC wanted him to fight all they had to do was call and that he wouldn’t come back unless the ‘numbers were right’.

However, sensing that there was some confusion with regard to what he was actually trying to say, Nate decided to illustrate his point with a hypothetical situation on an imaginary Tuesday in a school cafeteria.

“Until it’s all the way right financially, or somebody steps their game up and makes me want to fight them, (I’m not fighting)” Diaz said speaking to Ariel Helewani on The MMA Hour. “Because I don’t want to fight anybody who doesn’t make me want to fight.

“Check this out. You’re in the school cafeteria, right? Lunch time. Remember high school? And somebody’s like, ‘hey, look around the room. Who do you want to fight? Who do you want to fight in here?’

Random Tuesday, the week is going fine.

‘Who do you want to fight in this cafeteria?’ Remember the cafeteria? There’s 300 people in there, right? You look around the room, like, f*ck man, I don’t really want to fight anybody. Will I fight anybody? Yeah, I guess. Do I want to? No. First of all, that’s rude. ‘Everybody thinks he’s good, you should fight him.’ Well f*ck, does he want to fight me? I don’t know what the f*ck I would fight him for, he didn’t do nothing to me.

“But if that motherf*cker jumps up on the table in a corner of the cafeteria and says, ‘what’s up, motherf*cker? You sorry ass little b*tch. Want to get your ass whooped? What’s up? Come get it.’ I want to fight that guy. You know what I’m saying? That’s the guy I want to fight. But until then, I don’t have no reason to fight nobody.
