In recent days, most noise coming from Conor McGregor’s camp has suggested that the notorious Irishman is only interested in a rematch with Nate Diaz for his next bout.
McGregor has been running a consistent media campaign trying to force the UFC to reschedule the rematch after the featherweight champion was pulled from UFC 200 for failing to fulfill his media obligations.
However, according to multiple reports on Friday afternoon, the whole UFC 200 fiasco may turn out to be a blessing in disguise for McGregor.
Initially reported in The Sun, the Irishman is now on the fringe of confirming a super fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr which would potentially be the richest fight in boxing history.
The report which has now been circulated in multiple publications states that most of the details have already been ironed out with the sides only to agree on the purse.
Apparently even the paperwork with regard to the split is close to being signed and an announcement is said to be coming in a matter of ‘weeks’.
See details from The Sun’s report below;
FLOYD MAYWEATHER and Conor McGregor are on the verge of agreeing the richest fight in boxing history.
The Sun can reveal that undefeated Mayweather, considered one of the greatest boxers of all time, is set to go toe-to-toe with the UFC star in Las Vegas this summer.
Money Mayweather — currently retired with the joint best boxing record in history of 49 wins from 49 fights — is set to earn £100million in the boxing bout, while McGregor will take home £7million.
