Mick Konstantin Talks Inspiration Behind Viral Conor McGregor Anthem

Floyd you better watch out, because the Irish are coming…

Following on from the irrepressible anthem of Euro 2016 “Taking Over France”, Mick Konstantin is back with his ukulele to spearhead another Irish invasion. This time, a takeover of Las Vegas, on August 26 for Conor McGregor’s cross-code superfight with Floyd ‘Money Mayweather.

The traveling hordes of McGregor fans are famous for filling the Vegas Strip with raucous sing-a-longs and noise. Konstantin has produced another belter to help keep the Irish party rocking.

Detailing the rise of ‘The Notorious’ from relative obscurity to being the biggest draw in the UFC,¬†‘There’s Only One Conor McGregor’ relays all of the classic soundbites that have made McGregor a box office star. Taking us from “60 g’s baby” right through to “why do you have a schoolbag, you can’t even read?!”, Konstantin captures McGregor’s legendary wit in the catchiest of manners.

Inspiration

When asked about the inspiration behind the song, the PE teacher by trade gave credit to Facebook motivational guru, Owen Colgan.

Owen’s intense passion for the UFC kind of rubbed off on me over the past year or so. I wanted to make an anthem to get the lads going for this fight!

Mick also felt the need to freshen up his back catalogue, after last summer’s success.

There’s a bit of a talent show in the school every year and I usually like to put on a bit of a show for the kids at the end of it. I like to think it inspires them to be the best they can be. After “Taking Over France”, I needed a new song to dazzle them with. I also needed a new chat up line for Coppers.

Overnight, Konstantin’s new hit has reached the likes of Ariel Helwani, Chris Weidman, Michael Conlan, Owen Roddy, Artem Lobov and ‘The Notorious’ himself.

Due to the success of his latest offering, you can be sure Mick will be fielding plenty more calls and messages.

Check out Mick’s Facebook page and YouTube page for even more musical offerings. (He stresses that he’s available across all social media forms though @MickK_music on Twitter and mickkonstantin on Instagram)

P.S.

If you would like to see Mick get to Vegas, head over to Twitter and use the hashtag #getMickKtovegas . We’ll hope a generous multimillionaire may see fit to fly him out for the festivities.
