When Michael Page fights, we don’t know whether to slide forward to the edge of our seats or cower behind them.
Tonight, ‘Venom’ was once again both exciting and terrifying, when he brutally KO’ed Brazilian veteran Envangelista ‘Cyborg’ Santos in the second round of a welterweight bout at Bellator 158.
Fighting in front of a hometown crowd at London’s O2 Arena, Page struggled somewhat in the opening round. The lanky striker had his moments, but Santos managed to score a couple of takedowns and control him on the ground toward the stanza’s close.
But in the second, Page started to find his range and a body kick soon had Santos looking troubled. The London Shootfighters product sensed that he had a mere shell in front of him and began to walk ‘Cyborg’ down. However, it was when the 38-year-old attempted to repel the attack with a punch of his own that Page finished the job.
As Santos launched the shot, Page jumped at him with a devastating knee. ‘Cyborg’ dropped face-first to the canvas, half-man, half-machine, fully finished.
