Michael Bisping Burns Luke Rockhold After Former Champion Issues Bizarre Call Out

Luke Rockhold must have immediately regretted his choice of words when he called out UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping on a recent episode of Aussie MMA show Submission Radio.

“I’m taking a detour,” said the American Kickboxing Academy representative, before dropping a rather bizarre line that left him wide open to ridicule. “I’m going straight for Bisping’s ass. He’s been running his mouth, he’s been talking and avoiding every fight possible. That’s the fight I would pursue – shut him up, move on. There’s nothing more to be done(Transcription via MMAMania).”

Rockhold had to know that ‘The Count’ wasn’t going to let him away with that little slip.

Rockhold hasn’t fought since dropping the title to Bisping in dramatic and unexpected fashion last June. He had been scheduled to face Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena in November, but a knee injury forced the California native out of the bout.

In the time since the 32-year-old former champion’s last outing, the middleweight landscape has become extremely complex. Due to the fact that Bisping fought the division’s thirteenth ranked contender in his first defence and is already scheduled to face a returning welterweight legend in his second, there is a bit of a jam at the top of the division, with Yoel Romero heading up a line of deserving, quality, yet frustrated 185-pound contenders.

So, Luke might be waiting quite a while for his shot at revenge. Perhaps if Bisping loses the title to Georges St-Pierre, Rockhold might have a better chance of catching up to the Englishman.
