Michael Bisping has responded in emphatic fashion to Chris Weidman’s suggestion that his UFC 204 performance was an embarrassment.
After Michael Bisping defeated Dan Henderson via unanimous decision at UFC 204, the outspoken Englishman was quick to fire abuse at the other contenders for the middleweight crown.
“Weidman, what the hell? You lost your last fight,” Bisping said. “I’ve had three victories since you got your ass kicked by Luke Rockhold. Rockhold, I knocked you out in three minutes, buddy. Yoel Romero, you’re suspended for steroids. Shame on you. All of you win a fight, get off the couch, and let’s [expletive] do this.”
Speaking on the MMA Hour on Monday evening however, former champion Chris Weidman was quick to criticise Bisping for his comments. Highlighting the fact that the champion was nearly finished on two occasions by Henderson at UFC 204, Weidman stated that Bisping’s post fight speech was embarrassing.
“That guy had it in his head before the fight, and told himself, ‘after I dominate Dan Henderson, I’m going to get on the mic and call out all these four guys and say certain things about them, and it’s going to look really cool.'”
“But the guy, he shouldn’t have done that when you barely beat the No. 14 in the division. … to get on the mic like that and call out the top four guys like he just did something impressive, I really thought Dan Henderson should have got his hand raised, so I was embarrassed for him.”
Given the loud mouthed nature of the champion, it wouldn’t have taken a rocket scientist to predict what would happen next. Speaking on the UFC Unfiltered podcast, Bisping absolutely let rip at Weidman for his comments, not only stating that he is more than willing to fight the American, but also firing shots at the former champion’s religious beliefs.
“There’s that whiner, that crybaby, if Chris Weidman wants to do it then I’m more than happy,” Bisping said. “If he smashes through Romero next month then let’s do it–I’m happy. If he thinks I’m ducking him then that’s crazy because I’ve never ducked anyone in my life. I’m certainly not going to start with that f**king d**chebag.
“He just doesn’t stop complaining,” Bisping said. “He feels like everyone owes him something and preaches on about his father and this and that. He should shut the f**k up–he’s not part of God’s plan. If there is a god he’s got bigger fish to fry than Chris Weidman and his f**king life.”
