Max Holloway Destroys ‘Uncle’ Conor McGregor Over Recent Burger King Campaign

‘From King of Ireland to King of “chicken”‘… Max Holloway has gone to town on Conor McGregor once again.

Conor McGregor’s unprecedented rise in the world of MMA was as much down to his unique trash-talking ability outside the Octagon as his combat skills within it. However, one man who seems to be constantly besting the ‘Notorious’ Irishman in their war of words is former McGregor foe, Max Holloway.

Having gone on a phenomenal 12-fight win streak since losing to the SBG man back in 2013, Max Holloway is now the UFC’s reigning featherweight champion. Although the Hawaain is now reportedly set to defend his 145 lbs crown against Brian Ortega in the coming months, Holloway still stands out as a potential opponent for Conor McGregor should the Irishman make his return to MMA.

In recent months, Holloway and McGregor have exchanged in countless back and forths on social media with the Irishman (for the first time in his career) consistently emerging from the online duels having suffered the more significant damage.

Having recently launched an advertising campaign with Burger King, McGregor was ripe for another assault on Monday afternoon and Holloway certainly didn’t let the moment pass without sticking the knife in once again.

Holloway also spoke to Flocombat about his neverending back and forth with the lightweight champion with the ‘Blessed’ one hilariously claiming that McGregor reminds him of an ‘uncle’ who never stops talking about the good old days.

“He’s been throwing the little jabs here and there. It’s like I said, retired fighters like talking about the past,” Holloway said speaking to FloCombat. “They’re like your uncle when you’re at the barbecue and your uncle’s like ‘Come here, boy, remember back in my day I could throw this pigskin over the mountain.’ That’s what they do. They talk about the past. They ain’t got nothing to look forward [to], so they talk about their past. That’s what the man’s doing.

“They can talk about the past all they want. They know who the toughest fight is. They know who the best is. The best is ‘Blessed,’ and when he’s ready to put his big boy pants back on, come to a ‘real fight’ in his phrase, then we’ll be here. There’s a lot of matchups for him and it looks like a lot of people want to see Holloway vs. [McGregor] 2. I’m right here.”

Holloway recently suggested that he will be ready to make his return to the Octagon at UFC 226 and, although it has so far looked like the Hawaiin will be facing legitimate 145 lbs contender Brian Ortega, don’t be surprised if McGregor/Holloway II gets pushed to the front of the line.
