Matt Brown Allegedly Attacked By Former Coach Following UFC 198 Defeat

As if wearing Demian Maia like a tight fitting jacket for 3 suffocating rounds and being strangled into submission before a crowd that was baying enthusiastically for your blood wasn’t enough, Matt Brown was forced to suffer a number of other indignities this weekend.

The welterweight veteran drew the ire of Brazilian MMA fans by giving them a time-honoured gesture of defiance at the UFC 198 weigh-ins on Friday and he seemed to pay for that moment the following evening when he was struck 3 times on his way to the octagon.

Shortly after his arrival through the cage door, the aforementioned Maia poured on further misery by inflicting a one-sided defeat upon the American veteran. Brazil, and seemingly karma, had triumphed over “The Immortal”.

Unfortunately, Brown’s weird weekend wasn’t over.

Later that day, the fighter was apparently attacked by his former Brazilian jiu-jitsu coach, Rodrigo Botti, at his hotel. Botti however, did not get away with the assault scot-free, as a friend of Brown’s, identified by MMAJunkie as Vinicius Lemos, chased him down and applied a measure of vengeance.

Below is a video of Lemos’ attack on Botti….

According to Brown’s wife, Colleen, the bad blood between Botti and Brown dates back to an incident that occurred in the gym last year.
