Khabib Nurmagomedov Will Welcome Newcomer at UFC on FOX 19

Following the withdrawal of Tony Ferguson from UFC on FOX 19 due to injury, opponent Khabib Nurmagomedov was left without an opponent and the bout was destined to be scrapped.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship weighed up their options during the week, with rumours surfacing that Donald Cerrone would step in to fight on short notice. Instead, Nurmagomedov will welcome promotional newcomer Darrell Horcher to the Octagon on his return, the bout to be contested at a catchweight of 160-pounds.

Nurmagomedov has been sidelined for almost two years with recurring injuries, with his last fight a unanimous decision win over current lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos at UFC on FOX 11. The experienced sambo wrestler is undefeated in his mixed martial arts career, winning all of his 22 professional bouts.

Horcher is the current Cage Fury Fighting Championships lightweight champion, winning his last five fight since joining the promotion after a small stint with Bellator MMA.

Glover Teixeira will face fellow light heavyweight Rashad Evans in the night’s main event while Lyoto Machida locks horns with Dan Henderson in the co-main event.

UFC on FOX 19 takes place on Saturday, April 16 at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida.
