Khabib Nurmagomedov Claims One Of Conor McGregor’s UFC Fights Was Fixed

Khabib Nurmagomedov has just made a pretty outlandish claim relating to Conor McGregor’s ‘double champ’ status.

After Conor McGregor obliterated Jose Aldo in 13 seconds at UFC 194, he immediately reiterated his desire to become a two division champion and was booked to take on Rafael Dos Anjos for the 155 lbs crown. However, a late injury forced Dos Anjos to withdraw and a phenomenal saga with Nate Diaz occupied the next six months of the Irishman’s career.

With a victory over Diaz via majority decision at UFC 202, McGregor was finally able to move on with his initial ambition to become a simultaneous two division champion, and with Eddie Alvarez the reigning lightweight king at that point in time, the two were booked to fight at UFC 205 in New York.

UFC 205: Weigh-ins

When ‘The Underground King’ and ‘The Notorious’ finally locked horns in Madison Square Garden, many were left baffled by how easy McGregor picked the Philly fighter apart. Having dominated Alvarez in the first round and knocking him to the canvas on multiple occasions, the second round was more of the same before the Irishman inevitably finished the bout.

However, it seems that Khabib Nurmagomedov simply refuses to accept that a UFC champion could be so easily defeated and, speaking about the UFC 205 main event, the Russian clearly suggested that the fight was fixed.

“100 per cent I think this is real title fight,” Nurmagomedov said, speaking about his UFC 209 clash with Tony Ferguson. “I don’t care about him [McGregor], you guys know his Uncle Dana give him a gift. He jumped over all contenders and he fought for the title. I do not understand this fight [McGregor vs. Alvarez], he catch him a few times and he falls down—to me this is a fake fight.

“I do not think about him. We have a real fight now. This, me and Tony, this is one of the biggest fights in 2017 and all time in the UFC. You guys [the media] think I think about other guys? Of course not. This Saturday I’m going to make it a 25-unbeaten win streak, take the belt and become the new, undisputed, undefeated champion and after we will see what happens.”

Slated to take on Tony Ferguson at UFC 209 this weekend, Nurmagomedov was asked to expand on his suggestions that the McGregor vs Alvarez bout was fixed.

“I no understand this fight you know—UFC give him this fight like seven, six weeks before the fight,” said Khabib. “He [McGregor] catches him a few times and he [Alvarez] falls down. I do not understand—a lot of people have a lot of questions about this fight.”
