On Tuesday evening, MMA fans were rocked by reports that claimed Conor McGregor is set to be stripped of his UFC lightweight title this week…
Speaking earlier this month, Dana White had stated that, if Conor McGregor wasn’t willing to commit to his next fight by March, the promotion would have no choice but to strip him of his 155 lbs strap.
“If he [Conor] decides he doesn’t want to fight again for another however long, then that’s up to him. That’s his choice and his decision but, the belt has to move on…” said White speaking to Kevin Iole.
“As long as Conor is willing to fight by March, we could do Khabib versus Tony and then the winner fights Conor for the title,” White said. “Or, if Conor wants to sit out until next fall, then we’d have to make Khabib versus Tony for the title, not the interim title.”
However, after Tony Ferguson appeared to tweet out an image signing a bout agreement, on Tuesday evening, multiple reports circulated claiming that the promotion is now set to strip the Irishman of his lightweight title with Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson reportedly set to throw down for the undisputed title at UFC 223.

However, despite the reports of a booked Nurmagomedov vs Ferguson title fight, the Russian still seems to have his eyes fixed on the ‘Notorious’ McGregor as, on Wednesday morning, the undefeated lightweight sent out another post targeting the Irishman.
Although the post is in Russian, the interaction clearly seems to portray a scared McGregor refusing to come down and face the challenge from Khabib while one Instagram comment claimed that Dana White is asking the lightweight champion if he is a man and whether or not he is scared to face Khabib one on one while the SBG star simply makes excuses.
