Jose Aldo believes experience will be a huge factor in his UFC 194 featherweight title unification bout with Conor McGregor.
The Brazilian, however, isn’t talking about his greater number of overall fights, or his familiarity with championship competition. Rather, he seemed to indicate that getting in two training camps has allowed him to gain extra experience in dealing with Conor McGregor’s unorthodox southpaw style, as well as his brash antics and verbal attacks.
“We know how to deal with those things. The first time there was a heavier environment[in camp], but not anymore. We’re more focused , and I can say I’m way better prepared than the first time.
We had enough time to prepare the first time but it’s something new because he’s left-handed, but not anymore. We’re well trained, I was already adapted from the first camp we did for him, and we also know how to deal with his trash-talk”.
“It’s way easier now”.
It is interesting to hear Aldo admit that the atmosphere in his camp wasn’t ideal during the original preparations. The comments will no doubt give those who believe that Aldo ran from McGregor’s challenge in July greater ammunition with which to disparage the champion.
Aldo, however, can’t wait to silence that sort of talk, once and for all.
“You have no idea how motivated I am”, said the long-reigning champion.“I can’t wait for this fight to happen so we can prove everything we say”.
