Joe Rogan has slated the UFC for missing a huge opportunity and not booking the Diaz brothers for bouts at UFC 209.
UFC 209 will take place on the 4th of March in the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The card is undoubtedly impressive with Tyron Woodley, Stephen Thompson, Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson all featuring in the main and co-main events. However, the UFC have undoubtedly missed a massive trick by not shaping the event around the infamous Diaz brothers.
Nick hasn’t fought since January of 2015 while Nate hasn’t featured since his epic brawl with Conor McGregor at UFC 202. The pair are, at this point in time, two of the UFC’s biggest stars and according to Joe Rogan, booking them at UFC 209 was common sense, and a once off opportunity for the promotion.
“How the fuck are they not having 209 in Stockton? They have UFC 209 coming up and it’s not in Stockton. That shit is unconscionable.
They had one opportunity ever in the history of the UFC to do it,” Rogan said in a recent Fight Companion podcast. “Like, I planned episode 911 [of the Joe Rogan Experience Podcast] to be Alex Jones. They should have planned episode 209 to be in Stockton with Nick and Nate Diaz. I guarantee to you, that shit would have gotten two million pay per view buys.”
