The Irish Sun today confirmed another fight for the big UFC card in Dublin this October.
According to the newspaper, Conor McGregor’s Straight Blast Gym teammate Cathal Pendred will take on undefeated Englishman Tom Breese.
The Birmingham born fighter is 8-0 thus far as a professional, but only one of those wins has come inside the UFC’s octagon. That victory came in May when he stopped Luiz Jorge Dutra Jr. inside a round at UFC Fight Night 67.
The 23 year old currently fights out of the Tristar Gym in Montreal, Canada, where he is a training partner of main event combatant Joseph Duffy, as well as a whole host of other top quality fighters. Breese is a quality grappler. In fact, six of his wins so far have come by way of submission.
Pendred will be anxious to get back to winning ways after he suffered his first UFC loss last time out, when he was on the wrong end of a split decision against John Howard, on the big UFC 189 card from Las Vegas. Aside from being the the first time Pendred had tasted defeat in the UFC, it was his first loss anywhere in almost five years.
It will be another big night for the Dubliner. In front of, what is sure to be, a raucous home crowd at the capital’s 3 Arena he will be looking to make a big statement in order to regain the momentum he lost in July.
If you haven’t seen Breese in action before, here is a video that will give you an idea of what Pendred will face come October 24th.
