Conor McGregor is entering the final stages of his training as he prepares for his massive rematch against Nate Diaz at UFC 202 in three weeks’ time.
The flamboyant and bombastic Irishman has had a tumultuous year so far. Beaten for the first time in the UFC, dropped from UFC 200, and a short-lived retirement, it’s fair to say that since beating José Aldo for the Featherweight title last December, things haven’t gone strictly to plan.
Now, three weeks out from perhaps his biggest fight to date, McGregor has posted an update to his Twitter account with the caption of ‘3 Weeks’ and shows him looking mean, lean and ready for his rematch with Diaz at UFC 202.

Much was made of McGregor’s size before his first encounter with Diaz at UFC 196 last March. Jumping two weight divisions to meet the Stockton fighter, McGregor appeared strikingly larger than we were used to seeing.
Without going over the particulars of the fight and the brutal loss that ensued, McGregor, along with coach John Kavanagh have since admitted that his preparation for that fight did not go to plan.
With the lessons learned from that loss, McGregor appears to have found the happy medium between his ripped featherweight physique and the latitude that fighting at 170lbs allows.
Appearing more like a Lightweight, the Notorious is pictured with a steely focus and is sporting what looks like boxing shoes. Perhaps this is a hint of the kind of training the man from Crumlin has adopted?
Also of note is the fact the often vocal Irishman has literally dropped off the radar in recent weeks, last appearing for the initial UFC promotional duties when the fight was announced. Clearly the man is approaching the August 20th fight far differently from his first encounter with Diaz.
With little else to go on except for this latest image from the Irishman, it will certainly heighten anticipation for the UFC 202 headliner among MMA fans.
The event will take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on August 20th, with the McGregor – Diaz rematch taking place in small hours of the 21st, Irish time.
Three weeks and counting.
