With Holly Holm and Cris Cyborg recently added to the UFC 219 card, there is still some confusion with regard to the December 30th main event.
Having stated on multiple occasions that he would finalise a headline fight for UFC 219 over two weeks ago, Dana White has gone into hiding since Conor McGregor was involved in some very controversial scenes at Bellator 187 in Dublin.
Since then, multiple reports have suggested that Nate Diaz and Tyron Woodley may well square off for the welterweight title at UFC 219 with the champion even stating that he had already signed his fight agreement.
However, in recent days, talk of Woodley/Diaz has died down somewhat with many believing that the fight was no longer a runner. Speaking on the MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani on Monday, Woodley stated that, although Diaz has not yet signed his side of the contract, he is still hoping that the fight will take place and is already training as if the bout has been booked.
However, the welterweight champion also went on to state that, should Diaz fail to sign the contract, he will likely scrap the idea of fighting in December as he is need of shoulder surgery.
Check out Woodley detailing what he knows about Diaz’s negotiations and how he is already training for UFC 219 at this moment in time with Ariel Helwani in the clip below.
