GSP Sends Text To White & Bisping In Hope Of Fighting ‘The Count’ This Year

The search for a fight for former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre is one of the longest running sagas in the sport’s history.

GSP was announced to fight Michael Bisping but the bout was subsequently cancelled. St-Pierre hasn’t given up yet mind.

The 36-year-old has been threatening a comeback for the bones of two years now. However, it is now July 2017 and the former king of the welterweight hasn’t returned.

Many had believed that the Canadian would take on Conor McGregor in a super fight, with this rumour gaining momentum after the former welterweight was spotted in attendance of UFC 196.

That fight failed to come to fruition, however, perhaps due to McGregor’s defeat to Nate Diaz.

Excitement began to build amongst GSP fans when it was announced that St-Pierre would face Bisping for the middleweight title, however. A press conference was even held to announce the title bout.

Once again, however, this fight failed to go ahead as St.Pierre was unable to fight until October at the earliest.

This led to the Englishman claiming he would take on the winner of UFC 213’s interim title bout between Robert Whittaker and Yoel Romero.

This was the fight many fans wanted to see anyway as Bisping was accused of avoiding the number 1 contender.

GSP, one of the greatest of all time in the eyes of many, is unwilling to give up on the bout, however. This morning he sent a text to both Dana White and Bisping.

This is according to well-respected MMA journalist Ariel Helwani.

For now, we can only wait in eager anticipation as to when we will see St-Pierre in the octagon once again.
