UFC 205 gave Conor McGregor the opportunity become the biggest name in MMA, perhaps ever, and he duly took it, become the promotion’s first ever simultaneous two-weight champion.
Eight minutes of utter domination of the formidable Eddie Alvarez saw the featherweight champion add lightweight gold to his collection and cement his name in the UFC history books. Nobody in MMA’s premier promotion has ever been where McGregor now resides. He is truly unique.
While the world bows down to the ‘Notorious’ one and his staggering achievements, one man stands apart. Rather than joining the masses in their adulation of Crumlin’s greatest export, Floyd Mayweather has instead poured scorn on the suggestion that McGregor is to MMA what Mayweather is to boxing.
Speaking to TMZ Sport, ‘Money’ stated that that comparing the the double champion to Mayweather was ‘total disrespect‘.
Boasted about his superior money making abilities, Mayweather says,
“I mean if you’re saying he’s the Floyd Mayweather of the MMA, I’m trying to find out. Have you ever made $300 million in one night? Have you ever made $100 million in one night? Have you ever made $70 million in one night?”
Taking it a step further, Mayweather called McGregor an ‘ant‘, while he, Mayweather, is an ‘elephant‘. As he put it
“Elephant don’t [sic] see ants”

It can only be assumed that McGregor, if he responds, will be less than appreciative of the retired boxer’s comments.
If only it were possible to put these two in a ring together to settle their differences.
