Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor seem to be involved in an intense back and forth ever since the ‘Notorious’ Irishman touched down in Las Vegas on Tuesday.
With rumours circulating in the media that a fight between the pair had been agreed, on Tuesday evening, Floyd Mayweather released a public statement clarifying the situation and reminding his fans that, for the meantime, he is still happily retired.
There seems to be several rumors floating around media recently however, let the record show, there hasn’t been any deals made in regards to a fight between myself and any other fighters. I am happily retired and enjoying life at this time. If any changes are to come, be sure that I will be the first to let the world to know. – Floyd Mayweather
Mayweather’s statement was slightly bizarre when one considers the fact that he has been petitioning for a fight with McGregor for several months, and has released countless videos about the Irishman in the process.
In fact, with the 39-year-old suddenly insisting that he is happily retired the very instant McGregor landed in Las Vegas, it almost seemed as if the boxer was running from the eager SBG man – a point that McGregor was quick to highlight in responding to Mayweather’s statement.
With McGregor clearly suggesting that Floyd Mayweather is on the run, the 49-0 boxer has fired straight back at the Irish star, reminding him that if he wants to get the fight made, he has to first go through the promotion that has him contractually tied up.

This one looks likely to run and run but with McGregor now moving through the paces that he outlined to Ariel Helwani less than two weeks ago, it certainly looks like the Irishman is still determined to get the fight made.
Act 1 of Conor's plan is half done.
1: clear up issue w/ NAC
2: get boxing license in NV
3. Strike deal w/ TMT
4. Get UFC on boardEasy!
