Floyd Mayweather has stated that he intends on promoting Mixed Martial Arts fights. The undefeated boxer is moving away from the ring, and looks set to sit down cageside at MMA events.
In an interview with Fight Hype, the 39 year-old stated that boxing want him to return to the ring, but he sees his future elsewhere.
“They want me back…it’s time for me to start promoting fights for the MMA…I’m ready to get involved with that business now…every month, the cheque comes in.”

The undefeated former pound-for-pound king will go wherever he sees the most profit, and with the UFC booming in popularity, it is likely that he would be drawn to the promotion to earn more dollars for himself.
“You already know what the MGM Grand stands for: Mayweather gets money!”
Mayweather is no stranger to the UFC, and has recently had a public spat with Conor McGregor on social media, with the pair engaging in verbal exchanges.
This is a fascinating development, and one that could change the game in MMA in the future. Floyd Mayweather has a big enough brand to challenge the UFC if he were to chose to go out on his own, and a big enough draw to enhance the UFC if he were to join Dana White, Lorenzo Fertita, and Co.
Interesting times ahead…
