On August 26, Conor McGregor will face one of boxing’s all-time greats in Floyd Mayweather in front of a packed crowd at the T-Mobile Arena.
With less than a month to go to the fight which is dubbed the “Money Match” by many, the atmosphere surrounding the fight continues to grow at an exponential rate.
As the hype continues to rise, past and present boxers are weighing in on the fight giving their own predictions, and the latest big boxing name to give their prediction is none other than Chris Eubank Snr.
Listening to the interview, it would make one think that Eubank Snr certainly fancies McGregor’s chances in the ring, as he emphasises that McGregor’s Irish spirit may be the deciding factor that gets him over the line against Mayweather Jnr.
“Everybody is forgetting that he is an Irishman…the Irish…they are a special people, they are amazing.”
“I’m not talking about Conor McGregor, I’m not talking about an MMA fighter, I’m talking about an Irishman.
“It is likely that Mayweather Jnr has taken his eye off the target.
“He is fighting an Irishman, and that is enough.”
“You can’t underestimate an Irishman” he claimed in the interview, yet in February speaking to the Boxing Scene Eubank Sr had fired a warning at the UFC lightweight champion claiming that his son is more than capable of sleeping guys like Conor McGregor.
“There is a guy called Conor McGregor, who is talking the talk and claiming he can deal with my guy Mayweather, who is the grand master when it comes to hitting and not being hit. No chance McGregor.”
Either Eubank Snr thinks his son could currently beat Floyd Mayweather, or his opinion on McGregor and the fight has changed drastically in the last couple of months.
