Eddie Alvarez And Dustin Poirier Tear Into Each Other On Twitter

After a blistering bout that lasted just under two rounds due to a non-contest, the MMA world is eagerly awaiting the rematch of Eddie Alvarez and Dustin Poirier. We may not have to wait too long, though, as the duo went to war on Twitter.

Two of the main contenders at 155 pounds, Alvarez v Poirier was one of the most anticipated fights of UFC 211. Unfortunately for fight fans, when an Alvarez knee was deemed illegal, the fight was declared a non-contest.

The duo, who have both suffered defeats to Conor McGregor in the past, initially showed mutual respect following the decision. However, these feelings quickly dissolved and the rematch now seems inevitable.

We may have come a step closer to that rematch on Wednesday night as the pair took to Twitter to let their feelings be known.

The war of words sparked as Dustin Poirier ignited the flames.

We most certainly would have no qualms with Alvarez and Poirier taking to the octagon again. It’s also nice to see MMA fighters call each other out rather than boxers, which has dominated the headlines of late.
