No matter how much time passes, it seems the retired Floyd Mayweather’s ego just cannot let go of the limelight.
Having come out of retirement to take on Conor McGregor in the UFC star’s first professional boxing fight, the 40-year-old secured a tenth round TKO and with it another massive paycheck that included a guaranteed $100 million before pay-per-view and royalty payments were added on.
With more than enough to take care of those pesky tax issues that McGregor has been so eager to mock the American over during their pre-fight promotional tour, retirement awaited, again.
Following his defeat to Mayweather, UFC lightweight champion McGregor had floated a possible rematch between the pair, this time in the Irishman’s world of MMA.
While Mayweather had initially steered clear of any such notion, in recent weeks he has been releasing teasing videos of himself dancing around an octagon, throwing up the possibility that he is indeed contemplating the notion of a jaunt in the UFC.
While MMA stars, fans and experts are all of the opinion that the boxer would meet a swift and painful end, much like the boxing fraternity had predicted for McGregor, Mayweather has continued to tease.
Now, however, it appears that fellow boxing legend Oscar De La Hoya has had enough of Mayweather’s antics and insisted there is no chance the Money Man would be pulling on the four-ounce gloves to face McGregor.
