The world’s of MMA and boxing went into meltdown again this week following news that a potential boxing fight between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather might actually be nearing reality.
In the days since, both fighters have had their own say, of sorts. First the UFC lightweight champion posted a cheeky update on social media, while the retired boxer gave a clearer update on where things stand.
While there appears to have been some further developments in this long running saga, at this time there is still no deal to speak of between the pair, despite both expressing an interest in seeing one done.
Now, reported by TMZ Sports, Dana White has had his say on the latest developments, apparently stating emphatically, “There is no deal”.

Having previously offered both fighters $25 million to get it on in the ring, it is clear the UFC president has an interest in seeing this fight take place.
As is suggested in the video, the UFC has much to gain from this fight taking place, regardless of the outcome. Arguably the one with the most to lose is McGregor. At the top of his game in the UFC, he has been the one pushing for this fight since last summer.
Were he to lose against one of the best boxers of his generation, his critics in the UFC and beyond would surely see to it that the Irishman’s legacy would be forever imprinted with terms like ‘foolhardy’ and ‘ego driven’.
Should he win however, well that’s a different story entirely.
