UFC president Dana White has had his say on the potential of a rematch between Holly Holm and Ronda Rousey.
White’s comments come following Holm’s incredible knockout kick on Rousey at UFC 193 in Australia, which made the 34-year-old the first woman to defeat Rousey.
However, now a rematch is certainly on the cards with White sounding pretty determined to have a repeat of last month’s fight.
“I think that if we didn’t make the rematch, me and [UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta] should probably lose our promoter’s license,” White told the Mike & Mike show (via espn.go.com).
“That’s the fight that’s going to happen. That’s the fight.
“Ronda Rousey has gone undefeated; she’s taken the sport to another level and beaten the best women in the world in 14 seconds, 30 seconds. She deserves a rematch. Holly agrees she deserves a rematch.
“We’ll figure it out.”
While White did not confirm an exact date for the fight, ESPN say that UFC 200, which is set to be held in a brand new arena in Las Vegas on July 9, may just be when and where the rematch will take place.
Holm defeated Rousey with a stunning kick to the head in the second round of the original fight to blemish the 28-year-old’s perviously impeccable record and Rousey will now surely be looking to make up for that loss, potentially as early as next July.
