This one is really gathering momentum…
After Floyd Mayweather slated Conor McGregor on Tuesday evening, within 24 hours, both McGregor himself and UFC President Dana White have fired back.
Asked about the Irishman’s phenomenal performance and historical achievement at UFC 205, the retired boxer claimed that he wasn’t even aware that the 28-year-old was fighting and that he was sick of even hearing about him.
“I mean if you’re saying he’s the Floyd Mayweather of the MMA, I’m trying to find out. Have you ever made $300 million in one night? Have you ever made $100 million in one night? Have you ever made $70 million in one night?”
“Never compare Conor McGregor to me. That’s a total disrespect. I mean, once again. I’m an elephant. Elephants don’t beef with ants. I mean an elephant is so large he don’t even see ants.”
Asked about Mayweather’s comments,McGregor suggested that the 39-year-old was obviously lying about not watching UFC 205 before stating that, if the boxer had something to say, he should come say it to his face.
On Wednesday afternoon, UFC President Dana White, voiced his own thoughts on the developing feud, heavily defending the Irish champion and slating Mayweather’s fighting style.
“Conor McGregor … if he touches you, you go to sleep. Floyd puts people to sleep too, with his fighting style, not with his hands.”
“You know how Floyd knocks people out? When they’re not looking. Watch the Victor Ortiz fight.”
“This kid’s just getting started. This kid’s 28 years old. Floyd can say what he wants about Conor, but even other fighters have to respect him. He’s special. Floyd’s never even come close to doing to other fighters what Conor does.”
