The Current Freakish Size Difference Between Nate Diaz & Conor McGregor Suggests Fight Is Off

Since the initial whirlwind drama of Conor McGregor’s ‘retirement’ announcement followed by his swift removal from the UFC 200 card, the MMA world has been left wondering what’s next for the controversial Irishman…

Although the featherweight champion spent some time campaigning for his rematch with Nate Diaz to be rescheduled in the days after the controversy first broke, in recent weeks, the story has taken a drastic shift in an entirely new direction.

It seems with each passing day that Conor McGregor’s rumoured crossover bout with boxing great Floyd Mayweather is becoming increasingly likely. Speaking over the weekend, ‘Money’ himself stated that the bout was now much more than a rumour and that he thought the fight would get made.

“It’s really not a rumor,” Mayweather said. “The fight may happen. We really don’t know as of right now, but do I think the fight will happen? Absolutely… I’m pretty sure it’s gonna be a tough fight for me.”

McGregor himself has been hinting with increasing frequency as of late that his focus has also shifted from Stockton’s Nate Diaz to the ‘Money’ man and, going on the size difference between McGregor and Diaz at present, it certainly seems as if the Irishman’s focus is now elsewhere.

Over the weekend, the following picture of Diaz was shared on Instagram with the Stockton brawler looking like an absolute tank.

In contrast, McGregor posted the following image on his Twitter account on Sunday with the Irish fighter looking far more like his featherweight self than the pumped up version we saw at UFC 196.

Of course it’s hard to draw any firm conclusions in terms of McGregor’s intentions from the above. After all, he did tweet that he would be coming into the Diaz rematch ‘light and lean’on the 2nd of May.

However, given the fact that he has now failed to put out a single social post even subtly referring to Diaz in close to two weeks, (coupled with what appears to be a drastic drop in weight) it certainly seems as if the Stockton brawler is currently far from McGregor’s thoughts.
