After a shock defeat to Nate Diaz at UFC 196, Conor McGregor has been much more humble in the build up to UFC 202. However, with just two weeks to go to the highly anticipated rematch, the featherweight champion has finally made his prediction.
Although the majority of MMA pundits seem certain that McGregor is destined to face his second loss since joining the UFC on the 20th of August, the man himself remains incredibly certain that he is going ‘get back’ his UFC 196 defeat.
Speaking on a live media conference call on Friday night, the ‘Notorious’ spoke on multiple occasions about the changes in his preparation and how certain he is that the rematch will be a very different fight.
McGregor stated that he is now feeling ‘absolutely amazing’ and that he has ‘prepared phenomenally’. He also acknowledged that he ‘didn’t give enough credit to Nate’s durability’ at UFC 196, but that he will have a lot more in the tank in two weeks time.
Expanding on his method of victory, the Irishman finally stated that he doesn’t see Diaz reaching the third round.
I believe I will repay the favour and KO him inside the second round.
Conor McGregor currently stands as the bookies favourite to come out on top in the main event at UFC 202. However, given Diaz’s reputation for being incredibly difficult to finish, a second round KO would certainly be a massive surprise.
