Conor McGregor Reveals Why He Is So Keen To Return To UFC Before End Of 2017

Conor McGregor

Last night, Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather held their first press conference leading up to their August 26 fight. The Irishman is eager to shock the world by accounting for the undefeated boxer.

However, there is a belief that the brash Dubliner will have plenty more work to do in 2017 after his foray into boxing.

With Tony Ferguson, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Nate Diaz and Max Holloway all waiting in the wings, there is no shortage of potential opponents in the UFC for his return, and there have been widespread reports that the Notorious one is eager to get back into the Octagon before the end of 2017.

Speaking at last night’s press conference, McGregor revealed why he was initially so eager to make a swift return to the promotion and the world of MMA.

“What was really making me want to do that December 30 fight was the Forbes list. I thought the Forbes list was done January-to-January, or the end of the year to the start of the year. But it’s actually June-to-June.

“I have more time to hit the number one spot this year! If I had fought Floyd and then the December fight, that would have put me in the number one spot.

“But it’s actually July-to-July. I was 24th this year, which is a great jump from 84th the year before.

“I said I’d fight so I’m going to fight. I always want to fight. I’m an active motherf***er!”
