In an interview with Brazilian MMA media outlet, Combate, Rafael Dos Anjos had plenty of negative things to say about Conor McGregor.
The UFC’s top 155lb fighter, who violently tore the lightweight strap away from the highly regarded Anthony Pettis, went on an all out assault against the Irishman. “Aldo would destroy him”, said Dos Anjos of McGregor, before adding “he’s not even close to the top 5 [in the rankings]“.
Dos Anjos didn’t end his tirade there.
“I saw McGregor, he’s really scrawny, like a little chicken” barked the Brazilian. The newly crowned champion also stated that he wasn’t impressed with Conor’s UFC 189 performance, and that he feels a fully prepared Chad Mendes would have beaten “The Notorious”.
A match-up between RDA and McGregor is a possibility in the near future, as a move up in weight at some point is an inevitability for Conor.
After Dos Anjos’ harsh words it seems he will have a willing champion waiting for him upon his arrival in the division. The aggressive Rio de Janeiro fighter also stated that he would be more than willing to fight Conor in Ireland.
What a tasty fight that would be for Croke park.
Don’t be surprised, however, if other lightweights start running their mouth’s about Conor in the coming months. They know where McGregor’s long term future lies, and they also know where the big paydays are to be found.
