Super-fights will have to wait, because Cody Garbrandt has some business to settle in the UFC bantamweight division.
After he topped Dominick Cruz to claim the promotion’s 135-pound title at UFC 207 in December, Garbrandt said that he was interested in bouts with UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo and lightweight kingpin Conor McGregor. However, those divisions are in a mess at present, due mainly to McGregor’s weight-hopping act, and Garbrandt’s ongoing feud with former teammate T.J. Dillashaw has been garnering plenty of attention as of late.
So, that’s the fight the UFC have decided to put together.
Garbrandt and Dillashaw will face off on a date yet-to-be-determined later in the year, but not before the pair square off as coaches on the next season of The Ultimate Fighter reality show.

The 25th incarnation of TUF is entitled “Redemption” and it will feature fighters who have previously competed on the show, as well as an athlete currently plying his trade on the UFC’s main roster(via Sherdog).
Featuring two belligerents as rival coaches on TUF has been an effective way for the UFC to drum up excitement for bouts down through the years. Given the intense personal nature of Garbrandt’s rivalry with Dillashaw, this season is bound to capture the public’s imagination and draw in a large viewership for a fight that deserves to be seen.
