It didn’t take long for coaches Cody Garbrandt and TJ Dillashaw to clash on the new season of The Ultimate Fighter.
TUF 25: “The Redemption” sees the bantamweight rivals “No Love” and Dillashaw go head to head as coaches before their eagerly anticipated title fight at UFC 213. During international fight week in July, Garbrandt defends his 135 lbs crown against TJ and the animosity between the pair is crystal clear.

The rivalry stems from ex-champ Dillashaw’s decision to leave Cody’s ‘Team Alpha Male’ at Urijah Faber’s gym in Sacramento to join up with new coach Duane Ludwig in Colorado. On a previous series of TUF, when Faber coached against Conor McGregor, the Irishman coined the nickname “Snake in The Grass” for TJ after his initial switch of camps.
Cody has been vocal in his support of McGregor’s call, labelling his foe a “snake” and a “fake” at any given opportunity. Stakes in the tension between the fighters have been risen even further by the champion’s threat to release a video of his knocking out of Dillashaw in a sparring session back when the two were training partners.
Fresh off the back of an incredible performance in his upset victory over arguably the UFC’s greatest ever bantamweight, Dominick Cruz, 25-year-old “No Love” has a spring in his step and is enjoying hyping what is already a mouthwatering bout for MMA fans. 31-year-old Dillashaw is keen to claim back the belt he formerly owned and is on a two-fight win streak of dominating displays since his narrow split decision loss to Cruz.
Squaring off in an argument during the season premiere of TUF 25, it didn’t take long for the pair to shape up nose to nose before Garbrandt grabbed his nemesis by the throat and had to be pulled away by members of his team. One thing is for certain, this won’t be the final altercation between the two coaches before we see the end of this series.
That just happened. 😳Cody "No Love" Garbrandt grabs Tj Dillashaw by the throat on The Ultimate Fighter. #TUFRedemption
