Chad Mendes Gives Fascinating Insight Into Conor McGregor’s Weight Gain For Dos Anjos Fight

Chad Mendes has had some very interesting things to say about Conor McGregor’s fight with Rafael Dos Anjos and how the weight gain will come into play…

Chad Mendes famously stepped in to fight Conor McGregor at UFC 189 after Jose Aldo had pulled out on short notice. Prior to the fight, McGregor tried to entice Dana White and the UFC top brass into betting him that he would knock Mendes out in the second round.

As it happened, they did well to resist the temptation as ‘Mystic Mac’ once again saw his vision become a reality as the fight was stopped in the dying moments of the second round.

After the victory, McGregor eventually went on to face Jose Aldo at UFC 194 and the Irishman duly obliterated him in 13 seconds.

Now, as Conor McGregor counts down to what is undoubtedly his biggest test to date, his former foe Mendes has sat down with Chael Sonnen to discuss the jump in weight class and how it might affect the fight.

‘Looking back on wrestling, when you go up a weight class and you’re wrestling guys that are ten pounds bigger than you, that makes a huge difference.’
