Chad Mendes showed a lot of class after his UFC 189 loss to Conor McGregor, but in the period since he has been losing the good will he gained with Irish fans.
Over the weekend PunditArena reported that, while a guest on the Stud Radio Show, the recent Conor McGregor victim adamantly predicted a Jose Aldo win at UFC 194. He also told the hosts of Team Alpha Male’s podcast that he would pick several other UFC 145lb fighters over the Dubliner. On top of all this, Chad continued to excuse the loss on the grounds that he hadn’t had a full camp, while there was the added mention of suffering a broken hand.
In appearances on various MMA television shows in the past few days, Chad has continued his tirade on Conor. “With a full camp I destroy that guy”, said the Californian during an interview on UFC Tonight. Mendes added that he felt Conor had an obligation to give him a second fight. “I feel like he owes me a rematch with a full fight camp, lets see if he is man enough to do that”, he told Kenny Florian and Daniel Cormier.
He reiterated these points on Inside MMA, when he went on to discuss his next fight, with Frankie Edgar at The Ultimate Fighter 22 finale.
Speaking of his fight with the former lightweight champion, which takes place the night before Aldo vs McGregor, Mendes stated that he felt the winner would be right back in the number one contender position.
“The winner of this fight, in my opinion, is going to be right back in line with Frankie. It’s the perfect set up. It’s a great fight”.
