Listen: Michael Bisping and Tyron Woodley Discuss Possible Match-Up

Michael Bisping and Tyron Woodley were filmed backstage at UFC 207 posturing about possibly fighting each other. As previously reported, the two UFC Champions have been making noises about fighting at a catch-weight.

Bisping holds the middleweight belt while Woodley is the welterweight champion. Bisping finally captured UFC gold last year by knocking out Luke Rockhold. The Englishman was a massive underdog in the fight having been in the UFC for ten years at that point without achieving championship status. In comparison to Bisping, Woodley is a relative new comer with less than half the amount of professional fights.

Both men have been quite open to the idea of clashing. Reading between the lines however the cynics out there could see this match up as a low-risk money spinner. With the fight taking place at a catchweight neither of the belts would be up for grabs. Therefore neither man has a massive amount to lose. They both get a pay day and get to keep their respective belts.

Bisping is a master promoter and he is going into overdrive on this one. There was no mention of this fight whatsoever until the video of both men discussing it emerged, from the UFC or otherwise. Now the story is gathering legs.

Both men would have been looking on with interest last year as Conor McGregor won the 145lb title and then had his most lucrative year ever without having to defend it. With the Irishman taking himself out of the picture – for first half of the year at least – Bisping v Woodley could easily be a main event, even at a catch-weight.
