Bellator featherweight Jordan Parsons is in critical condition following a hit-and-run incident this past Saturday in Delray Beach, Florida.
Parsons was scheduled to fight Adam Piccolotti at Bellator 154 on May 14th but has now being pulled from the card in light of the incident – first reported by MMAFighting.
According to the mixed martial arts site, the bottom of Parsons’ right leg was amputated due to injuries sustained in the hit-and-run.
Bellator MMA released a statement following the news:
“Bellator has been informed of a terrible accident that occurred last night (April 30) involving featherweight fighter Jordan Parsons, who was struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run incident. We are still in the process of uncovering details and with his family’s consent, hope to have an update on his medical condition soon.”
Being a hit-and-run incident, the party behind the wheel is wanted by authorities at this time and the promotion is seeking help to try and bring the person responsible forward.
“The hit-and-run occurred on Lindell Blvd. and South Federal Highway in Delray Beach, Florida. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Delray Beach Police Department at (561) 243-7800.”
The 25-year-old’s career in mixed martial arts is likely over following a promising start in the sport. Parsons lost his last fight to Bubba Jenkins at Bellator 146 this past November and holds a professional record of 11-2.
We wish him a speedy recovery.
