“Long live Conor McGregor!”
Anthony Joshua was crowned as the IBF Heavyweight Champion of the World on Saturday night, with a second round stoppage of Charles Martin in London.
The manner in which he has gone about his business in the boxing world has been emphatic, and his record speaks for itself; in 16 fights, he has 16 wins, all of which coming via knockout.
Naturally, parallels have been drawn between Joshua and UFC featherweight title-holder Conor McGregor.
The Irishman had a similar rise in the fight game, winning all of his fights convincingly on the way to the top of the UFC 145lb division.
When asked about the ‘Notorious’, Joshua had nothing but compliments to say about the Dubliner, and said that he hopes McGregor can bounce back from his defeat to Nate Diaz.

When quizzed about the popular Irishman, Joshua has chosen a totally different tactic to rival Tyson Fury.
Fury had a public war of words with the UFC star. However, Joshua has an underlying respect for McGregor.
It is likely that the MMA fighter, who takes on Diaz in a rematch at UFC 200 in July, will have something similar to say about the English boxer.
