Watch: Conor McGregor And ‘Fan’ Floyd Sr. Engage In A Hilarious Exchange After LA Presser

On stage at the opening press conference for his August 26th showdown with Floyd Mayweather Jr. at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Tuesday night, Conor McGregor acknowledged the fact that the media event was a little different to what he is used to in the UFC.

The gregarious Irishman even claimed he hadn’t been informed that he would be called to the dais to give a speech, but he still acquitted himself well, lambasting Mayweather over his apparent troubles with the IRS.

“He’s in a fucking tracksuit, he can’t even afford a suit anymore,” bellowed McGregor, much to the delight of his fans in attendance.

After the presser ended, however, McGregor was brought into the backstage area to field questions from the assembled combat sports media and, here, he was in his element.

One person who McGregor didn’t expect to receive a grilling from though, was his opponent’s father and erstwhile trainer, Floyd Mayweather Sr.

The elder Mayweather stood at the back of the room as McGregor spoke, but when the UFC star facetiously claimed, not for the first time, that he can’t tell the difference between Jr. and Sr., the 64-year-old former fighter spoke up, resulting in an hilarious exchange.

“Relax Jr., we are fighting August 26th.” said McGregor to Sr., drawing giggles from members of the media. And it just got better and better from there.

“You’re a fan, Floyd Sr.,” said McGregor later, as Mayweather continued his bizarre tirade. “You’re a fan. I can see it in your eyes. You’re a fan of my shit. I know a fucking fan when I see one. Someone send that man a signed autograph.”
