Huge Twist Confirmed For Khabib Vs Ferguson Bout At UFC 223

Looks like Conor McGregor isn’t getting stripped after all…

On Wednesday afternoon, Dana White confirmed that Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson would throw down at UFC 223 this April in Brooklyn.

Although most assumed that the pair would square off for the undisputed lightweight title with multiple reports suggesting that Conor McGregor was set to be stripped, it has now been confirmed that that will not be the case.

After Dana White stated on multiple occasions that he would not allow McGregor to hold the belt hostage if he was not willing to commit to a fight by March, it will certainly be interesting to hear Ferguson and Nurmagomedov’s thoughts on the matter at what is sure to be an electric press conference this Friday.

One would have to now assume that the Irishman has informed the UFC that he will be ready and willing to faceoff against the winner of the UFC 223 main event once that score is finally settled. However, given the fact that the Khabib/Ferguson bout has now been cancelled on three previous occasions, it’s hard to say with any degree of certainty how events will unfold.
