On Saturday night, Joe Rogan tweeted that he found it “extremely bizarre” that there was such a heavy focus on Ronda Rousey in the promotional material for UFC 207 and so little on reigning women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes.

Rogan has a point. It does seem somewhat disrespectful to make the champion a secondary character in this narrative.
However, Rousey’s earth-shaking fall from the heavens last November, her subsequent personal struggles and her long-awaited march towards redemption is a story that is impossible to resist. The UFC were always going to attempt to exploit it’s powerful allure in the lead-up to the ‘Rowdy’ one’s return.
The recently released promo below, which resembles a movie trailer in many ways, is the promotion’s best effort to do so, thus far.
Is it exactly the kind of thing that Rogan was referring to? Yes. But it’s also riveting stuff that will have fans handing over millions of dollars to watch the Pay-per-view.
It also has us pretty pumped for New Year’s Eve Eve.
