Watch: A Little Reminder Of What Dana White Was Saying About Demetrious Johnson A Couple Of Months Ago

Despite the fact that he hasn’t competed since last November, Conor McGregor has made a miraculous leap into the top slot of Dana White’s pound for pound rankings in the last few weeks.

In a recent chat with entertainment media outlet TMZ, the UFC president rated ‘The Notorious’ Irishman ahead of UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson, the man who most consider the best fighter in the world regardless of size.

“Listen, the media claims [Johnson is] the pound-for-pound best fighter in the world,” White said“I think Conor McGregor is the pound-for-pound best fighter in the world. If you look at what that really means, what pound-for-pound means, and Conor doesn’t give a sh*t, he’ll fight anybody, anywhere, anytime.”

Things were very different just two short months ago, however. After Johnson had scythed through a hopelessly outgunned Wilson Reis at UFC on Fox 24, White was effusive in his praise of the man they call ‘Mighty Mouse’.

“He is already the pound for pound best fighter in the world and he strives to be better each time and he gets better each time, literally destroying people,” White said of diminutive dynamo Demetrious at the UFC on Fox 24 post-fight presser. “It’s hard to not call this guy the greatest of all time.”

So what’s changed? Has Dana revisited some of McGregor’s greatest hits on UFC Fight Pass and been left more impressed than ever before by the Dubliner’s deft movement and jarring power? Or is it simply that the prez has reshuffled his rankings because he is a little miffed at Johnson for his recent refusal to face former bantamweight champion T.J. Dillashaw?

The answer is pretty clear.
