Dana White has revealed that Conor McGregor has already called him to request a rematch with Khabib Nurmagomedov.
McGregor suffered defeat in the fourth round of Saturday night’s eagerly-anticipated bout when he tapped out after Nurmagomedov executed a rear naked choke on the Dubliner.
What we know already is that McGregor, once he suffers a loss, will want to rectify the situation as soon as possible – we saw this after his defeat to Nate Diaz.
Although there are so many unknown moving parts as a result of the post-fight controversy which saw Nurmagomedov launch himself and McGregor’s teammate Dillon Danis – the 30-year-old Crumlin native wants another shot at Khabib.
“[Khabib] has to go before the commission. We have to see what’s going to happen with Khabib with this whole mess but Conor McGregor has already called me wanting a rematch,” White said speaking to ESPN on Monday.
“That’s what Conor has asked for.
“We’ll see what happens with Khabib and what’s next.
“I mean Tony Ferguson looked amazing. Those two have been lined up to fight three different times and it hasn’t happened. So we’ll see how this thing plays out.”
As White says, there are so many variables which are yet to establish themselves – will Khabib’s visa be revoked? Will he be banned from competing in the UFC for the foreseeable future?
Too many questions, but one thing is for sure, McGregor wants another shot at his foe.
